While visiting my girlfriend Holly this past weekend I noticed how she had used plates throughout her home as decoration. In the kitchen, living room and even the bedroom. I really liked the way she framed out the fish plates in the kitchen. The following photos may help you think about different ways you can display your own vintage plate collection.
This photo shows plates in the typical china cabinet. This is a nice way to enjoy seeing your collection of fine china.....but don't stop there. Place pieces throughout your room to add pattern and color.
In the guest bedroom the design was inspired by a collection of blue and white dishes. There are several groups of plates and pottery in the room. Even the bedside lamp was made from a blue and white vase. The mix of patterns and blue shades gives the room a casual feeling. This is just perfect for making your guests feel comfortable and cozy!
Smaller plates can be great accents in a bookcase. The next time you find that single plate that you love, but wonder what you could do with just one plate, use it to add color and style to any room.
Holly and I are a lot alike, I'm always picking-up plates to use for accessories. My foyer welcomes guests with this teapot plate and pillow.
