This week Irene was surprised to find 13 handmade aprons all at one thrift store. For the most part they look as if they were never used.
My favorite one is the green plaid full apron. It has a real 1950's look to it. I'm also crazy about crocheted aprons too. This one has a pocket and the olive strips are a nice touch.
Some of the apron fabric appear to be much older then others. The red cherry apron looks like current fabric, were as the small flower print, with yellow gathered ruffles looks like it's from the 1980's. I would say many of these were made from sheets.
I wonder if this was one woman's collection. Or if these were left over from a high school home economics class, or maybe used in a play........I think it would be great fun to have an Apron Thrift Party where all your girlfriends would wear an apron and bring one thrifted item to exchange. Each party could feature vintage recipes for the season, like jello salads for summer, fondue for fall, casseroles for winter and picnic food for spring. I wonder if any of my friends would be willing to wear an apron all afternoon......
This is the grooviest apron of the bunch, and blue is Irene's favorite color, maybe I'll save this one for her party outfit.......lol
Irene also found this large Pyrex daisy dish in mint condition. We just can't pass these up when they look this good.
These 7 Culver gold fruit glasses were some of the great finds from my West Virginia trip, I bought so many things that I still haven't shared everything yet! These match a punch bowl and glasses we already have listed. So I just had to get them, even though I won't be able to make very much reselling them.
And lastly I wanted to share some of my crazy life with my sister. Last night she came over to borrow an egg to make brownies. A little while later I asked her if she'd made the brownies yet, and she says, "I would but I don't think I have a pan to bake them in." I looked at her and said, "SERIOUSLY you've got to be kidding!" I couldn't resist, I grabbed my camera and went right over and took this picture of her kitchen counter. I think there maybe at least one pan she could use for herself........lol.................Jolene
